The Vancouver Pride Week is a colourful, vibrant affair,
celebrating the city's Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgender
(GLBT) community and its many supporters in a variety of shows,
festivals, parties and the ever-popular Pride Parade. Each year, a

New Orleans turns out in style to celebrate the city's most
beloved and famous son, Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong, in the week of
the star's birthday each year. The line up of events honouring the
music man who promoted jazz around the world includes an outdoor
festival featuring music performances and local food along with

Amsterdam Pride; 1-3 August 2008
One of Europe's most popular and well-attended 'gay pride'
festivals, Amsterdam's Pride takes place annually in early August.
The highlight is the Canal Parade on the Saturday in which about 75
decorated craft carry revellers along the Prinsengracht, Amstel and
Stopera canals to the delight of about 25,000 spectators. The
festival includes a full programme of street parties at different
venues during the week, sporting events, an open-air film festival
on the Nieumarkt and numerous theatrical and cultural events.

Pyromusical Competition; 21 June to 6 August 2008
Montreal’s annual international fireworks competition is
the largest event of its kind in the world, and spectacular to
behold. Each year about eight teams from various countries compete
for putting on the most impressive pyromusical display for a
minimum of 30 minutes. This extremely popular event is allegedly
watched by nearly two and a half million people who have a good
view from various spots in the Montreal city limits.

Street Parade; 9 August 2008
Every August thousands of revellers flock to what has become the
biggest techno-music street party in the world, modelled on the
Berlin Love Parade. People from all over the world join together in
a 'demonstration for love, peace, freedom and tolerance' to the
beat of house and techno music. The city's biggest party is a
weekend of colourful floats, or Love Mobiles, costumed dancers and
loud music, as well as numerous parties and festival events that
take place before and after the parade.

Dublin Horse Show; 6-10 August 2008
One of the highlights on the summer calendar, the Dublin Horse
Show draws the top national and international show jumpers and show
horses with prizes totalling over €415,000. The event is not

Discovery Channel International Balloon Fiesta; 7-10 August 2008
Every year the Ashton Court Estate and the skies of Bristol are
transformed into a colourful riot of hot air balloons. Mass balloon
launches of over a 100 balloons at a time take place in amongst a
host of family orientated activities. Funfairs, music, stunt shows,
camel racing, international food stalls and more form part of this
